In a historically male-dominated industry, CCM employs more women than men, with women making up 56 percent of our workforce. This includes standout women on our executive team, top-producing women loan officers, and successful women throughout our corporate functions.
She’s Got the Keys
As we strive to become the most referred mortgage lender in every community we serve, we take pride in supporting homeownership for a diverse customer base, including a growing number of women. In 2021, twice as many single women as single men purchased homes*—this is in addition to the clout women have in shared mortgages with their spouses. All reflect the homebuying power of women, a significant cornerstone of financial and social stability and wealth creation.
Leveling the Playing Field
The Equal Credit Opportunity Act, or ECOA, enacted in 1974 was a gamechanger in terms of leveling the playing field for borrowers, prohibiting lenders from discriminating against borrowers based on gender, marital status, race, religion, national origin, or age. The impact of the ECOA on women has been significant. For example, women and others protected by this legislation gained access to mortgage terms at competitive interest rates with equivalent down payment requirements, while more readily obtaining credit cards, loans, and mortgages in their own names without a co-signer.
The Women of CCM
Since enactment of the ECOA, the mortgage industry has made great strides in advancing the careers and homeownership of women. Today, at CCM we take pride in the contributions of the more than 4,300 women that work here. The women of CCM work in all departments and fill a wide range of roles, including top leadership. Our female loan originators continue to achieve new records and are some of the top producing loan officers in the country.
